Sen. Ron Johnson Rushes to Open a Locked Door in his bid to escape accountability
The Senator from Wisconsin sought to escape a press gaggle curious about why Senate Republicans won't stop the massacre of innocent people
After the shooting in Uvalde, Texas that claimed the lives of over 19 children and is one of the deadliest attacks against school-aged children in the United States this year, the Republican party still believes that AR-15s, aren’t a problem. And in fact, the Republican strategy that has been quickly deployed across the board is lamenting that doors are the real issue instead of weapons of war being sold in stores like Walmart where the baby formula is locked up but access to AR-15s is unfettered. It's easier to buy a weapon of war than to buy a sharpie to make a protest sign.
George W. Bush spent more time invading Iraq for having ‘weapons of mass destruction than he did figuring out how he was part of the problem plaguing American society when it came to gun violence prevention. Iraqis haven’t forgotten though, and the feds foiled an assassination attempt because the one shoe Muntazer al-Zaidi threw at Bush wasn’t enough.
According to an FBI document obtained by Forbes, the would-be assassin traveled to Dallas last year, filmed video footage of Mr Bush’s house, and sought out potential co-conspirators to smuggle into the United States.
The Department of Justice later confirmed these details in a press release, identifying the suspect as Shihab Ahmed Shihab Shihab, 52. He was arrested on Tuesday morning and charged with “aiding and abetting a plot to murder former United States President George W Bush,” the DOJ said.
Some claim that former President Bush was making a joke, but the legacy of American imperialism and violence is not forgotten one bit in Iraq.
It was the “decision of one man to launch a wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq,” former president George W. Bush said Wednesday before quickly correcting himself, saying he meant to describe Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war on Ukraine.
“Iraq, too, anyway,” he added under his breath to laughter from the audience during a speech at his presidential center in Dallas.
It felt like a man admitting he cheated on his wife, but quickly correcting himself and claiming it was a joke [‘honey I’m JOKING please have some humor about this degrading situation’]. Freudian Slips are tough. But Bush can’t get a pass for this one.
It’s almost like Henry Kissenger musing that Europe should just let Russia keep grabbing land without consequences. Nothing like what Nazi Germany did in 1934 [which they absolutely did for those who don’t comprehend satire].
Watch Senator Johnson try to escape hard questions by -literally- being met with an unlocked door, and look at how a Capitol police officer motions for him to go into the adjoining room.
According to The Daily Beast, Senator Ron Johnson does not have a problem with more American children succumbing to gun violence:
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) not only said this week that he opposes any new gun laws to address mass shootings, but he also blamed critical race theory and “wokeness” for the horrific Uvalde school massacre that left 19 young children dead.
Following the tragic Robb Elementary school slaughter, pro-gun conservatives have suggested everything from “man traps” to “ballistic blankets” to door control to address the never-ending scourge of American mass shootings. At the same time, they’ve routinely ignored the need for common-sense gun safety measures, even going so far as to claim gun control caused the Uvalde tragedy.
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has been making the rounds lamenting the lapse in American cooperation and the lack of interest or trust in American institutions actually showing up for BIPOC across this country.
Maybe we can begin with how his wife attempted to prevent a peaceful transfer of power between outgoing and disgraced President Trump, and for incremental progress President Biden.
Apparently lamenting about the ‘good old times’ and giving us a #throwbackthursday on a Saturday, Justice Thomas was despondent about how the Supreme Court used to take away people’s rights in a more ‘civil’ manner:
As he had the week before, he praised a previous court — one headed by Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist and with Justice Stephen G. Breyer as its junior member — as a “fabulous court.” It ended with the appointment of Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. after Rehnquist’s death in 2005, and now Thomas and Breyer, who retires at the end of the term, remain. This is not the court of that era,” Thomas said. “I sat with Ruth Ginsburg for almost 30 years, and she was actually an easy colleague for me. You knew where she was, and she was a nice person to deal with. Sandra Day O’Connor you can say the same thing; David Souter, I can go on down the list.”
“The court that was together 11 years was a fabulous court. It was one you looked forward to being a part of,” he said.
With the lack of police action during a violent incident such as a school shooting, one has to ask Clarence Thomas that along with the activities of his wife, Ginni Thomas in subverting the will of the people on January 6 to prevent the certification of elections and to begin the process of transferring power officially, why he also is seen with Herschel Walker who is running for US Senate in Georgia.
There are so many ways that Republicans pretend to be befuddled and confused about why there is a lack of trust in American institutions, and then they refuse to act on gun violence prevention and The Onion continues to have to rehash the same template over and over again when there is another school shooting. Hell, even Ted Cruz has a template to respond to mass shootings at this point. Cancun doesn't want him, stop trying to send him there.
Apparently unable to read the national mood, or even just being a terrible person in general as we have seen over the Trump administration, the former president not only attended the National Rifle Association’s convention just days after 19 children are brutally murdered, he read the names of children who have been deceased by shootings on stage and then danced.
It truly takes a certain kind of sociopath to truly believe in Republican ideals and principles in the age of MAGA. It takes another kind of psychopath to read the names of dead people and find any kind of joy that any normal person would not find any joy in it because we understand they tragically died.
This political burn book segment is just a dark one because there is no humor in the violence that we all will be facing collectively as the Supreme Court wages a seperate attack on the fundamental rights that Americans have fought for, died for, and suffered to obtain. Even if it means SCOTUS Judge Thomas breaks his own interracial marriage to Ginni Thomas.
